La Guepiniere was built at the turn of the 15th/16th century and was the hunting lodge that served the nearby chateau. The gite has recently been renovated to an extremely high specification with the entire top floor being gutted and the ceilings raised in order to expose some truely beautiful beams.
Three bedrooms have been created and two bathrooms (one of which is en-suite to the master bedroom). Both bathrooms have larger than average showers and there is also a bath in the en-suite bathroom as we appreciate young children cannot necessarily use showers. Downstairs there is an extremely comfortable lounge/dining room. The lounge benefits from UK satellite tv and a surround sound stereo dvd plaver. The lounge overlooks the beautiful walled courtyard to the front. There is a large, well equipped, kitchen with an electric cooker, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Outside there is secure parking behind electric gates. This also means that the property is extremely secure for your children should you take your eye off them for more than a moment. The large courtyard offers space to enjoy sitting outside the gite to catch the early morning sun (in fact, you can catch the sun all day here!). At the rear of the property is a large grassed area screened on one side by beautiful stone barns where children can play in safety. The pool is above ground and the steps can be secured for added peace of mind therefore toddlers can run round with no fear of falling in! The pool is 5.5m in diameter by 1.4m deep meaning there is ample room for several people to enjoy a refreshing dip. It is heated to a very pleasant 28 degrees so even if the weather is a little inclement the pool is still inviting. A barbeque is provided for outdoor dining. There is a dart board, boule and various other games. We do however reccomend you bring some of your own favorites as well! We have 2 horses, 2 dogs and cats who never fail to bring smiles to our younger guests. In late spring it is not uncommon to see our nesting long-eared owls along with the nesting kestrels. On the 1st of April (almost to the minute) our first swallows start to return and within a week they are all busy constructing their nests in our barns and stables. There are a multitude of wrens bobbing around alongside numerous other species and you regularly can spot the buzards soaring above.
As the weather warms up the lizards start popping out to sunbathe.
All this and more besides and you are only a couple of miles out of the town!
