La Thiaumerie is a lovely old stone farmhouse, built in the traditional local style on a hillside above the sleepy hamlet of St Louet sur Vire, conveniently located less than ten minutes from the A84 autoroute, yet far enough away not to suffer from any traffic noise or pollution.

With just over half an acre of gardens and a sunny terrace overlooking the surrounding farmland and apple orchards, there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Normandy countryside. Even out of season we have a warm and cosy living room, with a woodburning stove, for the exclusive use of our guests.

Each of our double rooms is decorated in its own style with tea and coffee making facilities and hair dryers and all have modern ensuite shower rooms which have been installed within the last 3 years. The largest of our rooms also has a twin-bedded attic room attached to it, making it ideal for a family of 4 or 5 travelling together.

St Louet sur Vire is well located as a base for touring Basse Normandie as it is only 15 minutes from Saint Lo, the departemental capital, which has a wonderful Saturday market and good shops; we are also only 40 minutes from Bayeux and the US D-Day beaches and just under an hour from Mont St Michel, the British and Canadian beaches, the Caen Memorial museum and Pegasus Bridge.

Basse Normandie has over 300km of some of the most beautiful coastline in Europe and a large proportion of this coastline is safe, sandy beaches, many within a 35 minute drive of La Thiaumerie.

Apart from the famous attractions that Normandy has to offer, this area, the Vallée de la Vire, is reknowned for its beautiful countrsyide, lovely walks and bike rides and plenty of outdoor activities. Closeby we have horse-riding, canoe-kayak trips, fishing, bungy jumping and golf, all of which we would be happy to help you arrange during your stay at La Thiaumerie.

There are some great restaurants in the area and we are happy to make bookings on your behalf; alternatively at the end of a long day's sight-seeing you may prefer to relax "at home" and join us for a 3 or 4 course evening meal and a few glasses of wine.
